About G&L Auto
G&L Auto has been part of the automotive community in Navan since 1973.
What began as an automotive recycling business has grown into a full-service automotive operation combining vehicle repair, parts and recycling from our location on Navan Road.
That history still shapes how we work today. We look at the condition of the vehicle, understand the problem first and then discuss the repair and parts options that make sense. Sometimes that means a new component. Sometimes a suitable recycled OEM part may be available. And sometimes an older or damaged vehicle has simply reached the point where recycling is the more practical next step.
More than 50 years after G&L first opened, we continue to serve drivers from Navan, Orleans, Ottawa East and the surrounding communities.

How Did G&L Auto Get Started in Navan?
G&L Auto started in 1973 as an automotive recycling business.
Long before the business expanded into full-service vehicle repair, G&L was working with vehicles, components and reusable parts every day. That gave the business a practical understanding of what happens beyond simply removing an old part and installing a new one.
Over time, the operation grew to include mechanical repair and other automotive services while retaining its recycling and parts capabilities.
Today, those sides of the business work together. Customers can come to G&L for repairs and maintenance, enquire about used auto parts or work with the recycling operation when a vehicle is damaged, unwanted or no longer practical to keep on the road.
It is a broader automotive operation than the business that opened in 1973, but the connection to recycling remains part of how G&L approaches vehicles today.
What Makes G&L Auto Different From a Typical Repair Shop?
G&L combines automotive repair with decades of experience in vehicle recycling and parts. That gives our team another perspective when deciding what a vehicle actually needs. The starting point is still the same: identify the problem. From there, we can explain the recommended repair and, where appropriate, discuss different parts options based on the vehicle, availability, component condition, safety and cost.
Diagnose Before Deciding
A warning light, noise or failed component does not automatically tell you what should be replaced. We inspect the vehicle first and work to identify the cause of the problem before recommending the next step.
Consider the Practical Options
Once the problem is understood, we can explain what needs attention and what repair options are available. The aim is not to push the same solution for every vehicle, but to find an appropriate route based on its condition and what the customer wants to do with it.

Because automotive recycling remains part of G&L Auto, our team also has access to used and recycled components. When the right part is available and suitable for the repair, that can give customers another option to consider.

Can G&L Auto Source Recycled OEM Parts for Repairs?
Yes. G&L Auto’s automotive recycling operation gives us access to used and recycled vehicle components, including OEM parts when suitable stock is available. That does not mean a recycled component is automatically the right choice for every repair.
The part has to suit the vehicle and the job. Its condition, availability, safety, cost and the customer’s preference all matter. When a recycled component is a realistic option, we can discuss it alongside the other available repair choices before work proceeds.
The point is to give customers useful options, not simply choose a part because it costs less.
